Update – 4/12/2024
After almost 2 months with no updates, I’m back.
I ended up opening everything I mentioned in my last update. The Prismatic Evolutions packs, Surging Sparks and Journey Together Booster Boxes. I ended up with some decent pulls from Surging Sparks and Journey Together but basically got nothing from Prismatic. You can watch all of those openings on my YouTube channel, NewTCG1.
Last weekend, I went to my first ever card show. I came out of there with what I wanted, booster boxes to open for fun on the channel.
I had a plan to get in early, (I got in 30 minutes early with VIP) and get out. I did just that. I looked around and came away with 4 booster boxes and 4 booster bundles.
I did some negotiating on most of those, but I obviously still paid above MSRP. The Pokémon market, what can you do?
I had never opened 151 before so I decided to get those for sure. Already opened them and the video is scheduled to go live soon, be sure to subscribe to check that out. I pulled something decent on my very first pack of 151 ever.
I also ended up getting a booster box of Chilling Reign which will be the first set that’s not Scarlet & Violet that I have opened. Paid some cash and traded a couple of cards as well for that. Haven’t opened it yet, but I will soon!
As I was walking out, a skateboard deck caught my eye and I went over to check it out. I thought it was just a regular BAM deck, but it turns out it was autographed and authenticated. I picked that up for sure. I grew up watching him and I used to skate as well.
I want to get a frame for it or some way to keep it preserved. Right now, it’s just in a plastic sleeve.

Update – 2/23/2024
It’s almost been 2 months since my last update. I’ve been super busy working 60 – 70 hours a week and haven’t had a lot of time to get on here and update it.

I got some decent pulls including the most valuable card in the set.
Since then, I bit the bullet and ordered a Prismatic Evolutions ETB and 3 Tech Sticker Collection packs from eBay. I got 18 packs of Prismatic Evolutions total. I’m still editing those videos and they will be posted on my YouTube eventually.
That same day I decided to order 2 Surging Sparks Booster Boxes to open also. Well, if I pull the Pikachu SIR in the first box, I’ll keep the 2nd one sealed. After I open one or both of those, I plan to send some of my best cards to get graded. I will probably use TAG because I like their prices and their data. It just seems like they will become one of the top grading companies.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I pre-ordered a Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Journey Together Booster box that is supposed to ship on 3/28, but we’ll see.

Update – 12/28/2024
Again, it’s been a little while since my last update and quite a few things have happened since then. The main thing is I finally got my Paradox Rift sleeved booster packs I ordered.
I plan on opening a few of them and selling the rest of them on my eBay page. I was going to sell them on here at a lower price, but I was having a ton of problems with setting WooCommerce up. I kept having issues with the site going down, shipping prices not showing, etc… I just said screw it and went to eBay. You can view my eBay page here, https://www.ebay.com/usr/newtcg
Also, I don’t know why but I was sent a 2nd Vibes Pudgy Penguins booster box. I only ordered one, but they sent me another one. I’m not complaining because as you can see in the image above, it’s a little damaged. The newest one came in a box and was in great condition.
The last thing is I found a couple of boxes at Walmart that had some Surging Sparks packs in it. I’m still editing those videos and will post them eventually. I’m adding the name and price of each card I pull to the shorts. It makes the video more entertaining and better to watch.
Lastly, I have applied for my Retail license and I’m still waiting for that to go through, then I’m going to find a distributor to work with. I have a few I’ve been looking at but haven’t made a final decision yet.
That’s about all the updates I have as of right now. I start my new job on Monday so I will eventually have some extra money to buy some more Pokémon stuff to open and sell.

Update – 12/18/2024
I haven’t opened any more packs since my last update. I moved to a new state and waiting to start a new job.
However, I did order a bunch of sleeved Paradox Rift packs from eBay and plan to open a few of those. The rest of them, I’m planning on selling on this website for a decent price. I’m just going through the process of getting everything set up and legal to do so. Be on the lookout for that! I’m hoping to eventually find a good distributor to work with to buy some more products in bulk for a great price. Wish me luck on that..

Update – 12/7/2024
I’ve opened quite a few packs since my last update. I went by my local Walmart and guess what they had… Sleeved Surging Sparks packs! You know I had to get a bunch of them. I ended up buying 20 of them because I knew they wouldn’t be there long. Sure enough, the next time I went there about a week later, nothing. No where to be found.
That time I ended up getting some booster bundles, and another Terapagos EX UPC box just for the cards basically. They didn’t have a lot of options that time.
I’ve recorded the openings but haven’t had a lot of time to edit the videos. I’m currently in the process of moving to a new state and switching jobs. I’ll get to it eventually. I’ve been thinking about making shorts instead of longer videos.

Update – 11/29/2024
It’s been a minute since I last updated you. I’ve been busy the last few weeks, but I’m finally at home for a few days.
I did end up buying some more of those sleeved packs. I got 4 more packs of the Stellar Crown packs.
I’ve been recording the openings and doing my best to edit the videos as well. It takes a little bit of time and even longer to add a voiceover to them.

I’ve got more videos done and I’m going to try to upload one every Monday. Don’t hold me to that though.
After that, I finally got my ETB that ordered from WhatNot through CardParty and DeepPocketMonster. I’m pretty sure I was supposed to get the Paldea Evolved ETB, but they sent me the Surging Sparks ETB. I’m not complaining, I’d rather have that one anyway. I also got the DPM 1 Million Subscriber coin and a signed Energy Card from Pat Flynn. I didn’t know I was going to get that either so that was a nice surprise. I’ll upload that video eventually.
Today is Black Friday and I went to WalMart to see what I could get. It wasn’t much. They didn’t have any Booster Bundles and all of the ETBs were Shrouded Fable and Stellar Crown. I ended up getting the Terapagos EX UPC box. It was some awesome Promo cards and quite a few packs in it. I haven’t opened it yet, but I will later today.
Oh yeah, I almost forgot. I stopped by Family Dollar / Dollar Tree on the way home and found some Stellar Crown Base set sleeved packs. Believe it or not, they were BUY ONE GET ONE FREE! I didn’t know that until I got to the register. I thought I had 10 of them, but apparently it was only 9. I haven’t opened those yet either.
Another thing, I ended up cancelling my order from boxed.gg and sold all of those cards so I could get the new Booster Box for this new TCG called Vibes Pudgy TCG. It’s a new TCG and I was able to get the first edition Booster box with an exclusive promo card through Boxed.gg. I don’t plan on opening it and I’m going to keep it sealed basically as an investment. I’m sure 10 years down the road it’ll be worth a LOT more money than what I got it for.
Update – 11/18/2024
It had been a week since I opened all of those ETBs and I had to get my Pokémon fix. I ended up buying 6 of the sleeved Obsidian Flames packs at a Loves Truck Stop in Iowa. Yeah, they’re a little expensive, but I was super bored and wanted to open some Pokémon packs. I ended up getting 1, yeah just 1 decent card from 6 packs.
I probably won’t be buying anymore of those sleeved packs anymore unless it’s a really good set. They’re $5.99 a piece!
Just hoping to be able to buy a booster box soon. That seems to be the way to go. You get like 30+ packs for a little over $100. Which is way better than $6 a piece.
Update – 11/10/1024
A lot has changed since my last update. I left from my home time to go back out on the road and I always go by Wal-Mart before I leave to get the things I need while on the road. I already checked out and was walking out when i noticed the Pokémon section. There were a couple of ETBs, some booster bundles and some other Pokémon accessories. I took my stuff to my car and went back in and picked up the only 2 ETBs (Shrouded Fable and Stellar Crown) and the Halloween Trick or Treat BOOster pack.
I opened those and recorded it as well. I’ll end up uploading the videos soon.
Waiting around until my next load picks up on Friday, I was up in Michigan and decided to see if I could get some ETBs delivered to me. It turns out you CAN! You can order Pokemon stuff from Best Buy on DoorDash and get it delivered to you. I ordered like 4 ETBs and like 10 booster packs, but they didn’t have a lot in stock. I was only able to get two more Steller Crown ETBs. I wasn’t able to open those and record them that night so I saved them.
Well, I got a load that delivers in Alabama on Monday and was able to swing by my house near Nashville. I went to the same Wal-Mart from the other day and they had a few more and different ETBs. I ended up getting 2 Surging Sparks, 1 Temporal Forces and another Shrouded Fable ETB. I also got me a binder that holds like 300+ cards. I opened all of those ETBs earlier and recorded each of them separately. It will take a while to edit the videos and upload them, but it’ll be soon enough.
I ended up getting some decent pulls from those ETBs and was able to fill some sleeves in my new binder. It’s hard to find space to put all of those ETB boxes in my truck, but I made some space.
I’m going to have to wait a few days or weeks before I get some more. It’s getting expensive!

Hello! I’m David, and I go by Gumey (pronounced gummy, or goomay if I’m feeling fancy.)
I started this website to share my journey with the Pokémon TCG. How I got into it, my plans, goals and every step of my journey as I learn as much as I can. (BTW, I’m new to Pokémon collecting).
My journey actually started a LONG time ago, about 20 years ago. I used to collect Yu-Gi-Oh cards when I was in elementary school. I had a whole bunch of them. Some would probably be pretty valuable today. I got older and just quit and I couldn’t tell you what actually happened to my collection. I think I gave it away to a friend, but I’m not 100% sure. Man, I wish I still had it.
A while back I started collecting Zippos. It’s not a huge collection, but some are kind of expensive.
Fast forward to 2024 and I’m starting to get into Pokémon. It’s kind of a weird start to a journey, but I’m going to be honest and tell you exactly how it happened.
Well, about a month ago, this game called TCG Card Shop Simulator was going viral and I came across a video on YouTube about it. It looked interesting and I decided to buy it. That’s it, that’s my journey, good night everyone!
That’s actually the start of my journey. From there I ended up downloading the Pokémon mod for the game and it got me interested in starting to collect Pokémon.
I didn’t immediately go out and buy a whole bunch of packs or boxes though.
I started getting recommended more Pokémon videos on YouTube and I just kept watching them. Deep Pocket Monster was one I really enjoyed. The challenge videos are very entertaining and got me hooked. Especially the Giga binder (Chad) videos where Pat attempts to collect every single Pokémon into one giant binder. I watched every single one of those videos.
From there, I made a mistake in my journey. I got an advertisement for boxed.gg, which is basically a gambling website for Pokémon cards and other TCG cards. I thought it was an interesting idea, so I signed up for it and deposited too much money into it. Like I said, it’s basically gambling with the idea that you can actually “withdraw” the cards you win and get the physical cards shipped to your home.
I “won” some cards, withdrew them and I’m waiting on them to arrive, which I have no idea when it’ll be. Their website says, 3-4 weeks, so I just have to wait.
You should probably avoid this method, especially if you’re new to collecting or easily addicted to gambling.
Next, I downloaded the Pokémon TCG Pocket app to try and learn some of the cards and learn how to actually play the TCG. It’s been going well, kind of slow once you get through the tutorials. If you want to add me as a friend on there, my Friend ID is 2588-1285-1573-0151.
Which gets me to the latest step in my journey, so far. I was watching a Deep Pocket Monster live stream last night where he was giving away a bunch of stuff. Of course I didn’t win, because a LOT of other people are also tuned in and entered to win. He did mention that WhatNot was a partner for Card Party 3 and they had a deal for $15 off a Scarlet and Violet Paldean Fates ETB and I purchased it for like $27.
That’s my full Pokémon journey so far. I plan to buy a binder and sleeves soon as well. I’m a truck driver so It’ll be a while before I’m back at home to be able to get everything. I plan to record my pack openings as well so that’ll be a fun thing to do.
